Count & Grow

Count & Grow is RHET’s national maths and numeracy based, potato growing competition sponsored by the Clydesdale Bank and run in collaboration with the Scottish Centre for Financial Education (Learning and Teaching Scotland).

Launching at the end of January, Count and Grow will return for its 6th year in 2010.

It is aimed at Primary 2/3/4 children working toward the first level in numeracy in a Curriculum for Excellence.

The 16-week project  has once again proved a huge hit with over 360 schools throughout Scotland including schools from the Scottish Islands taking part.

The project encourages pupils to develop maths and numeracy skills. Children monitor the development of the potatoes and get involved in activities such as measuring, graphing and weighing. In addition, they will learn about natural biology, about cooking and how potatoes can be part of a healthy diet.
