When someone who cares about farming and agriculture hosts a RHET farm visit or talks to a class in school, their enthusiasm carries over to the children they speak to.

Herein lies the strength of the work that RHET does.

If you believe, as we do, in re-establishing a link between Scotland’s population and its land, and raising awareness of contemporary rural issues, then RHET can help you.

All we ask is a little time.

By volunteering with RHET you will become part of our national network of hundreds of farmers, rural workers and like-minded volunteers that are passing on their expertise to school children across the nation.

In the academic year 2008/2009 RHET had contact with approximately 1in 14 Scottish school children. This figure having almost doubled in the last 4 years.

RHET could not continue its excellent work without the time donated by hundreds of volunteers who help us with farm visits, classroom talks, Estate Days, Count & Grow, Healthy Eating events, taking tractors into schools and the Royal Highland Show  to name but a few.

To find out what is going on RHET's countryside intiative in your part of Scotland then please click on the "In Your Area" tab.

RHET offer free Farm Visits to Scottish schools.

Fully risk-assessed, they fit perfectly into the curriculum and are an exciting way to enhance topics on food, farming or the countryside.

Why not have a real farmer visit your class to talk about how they grow the everyday food we eat?

They will bring with them a range of farming props to show you - and we promise they'll clean their welly boots!
