Farmhouse Breakfast

Farmhouse Breakfast Week 24th – 30th January 2010.

Farmhouse Breakfast week is an annual campaign run by the HGCA which emphasises the benefits of a healthy breakfast as part of a balanced diet and active lifestyle.

During the week, across Britain, farmers, food producers and retailers are encouraged to hold events to promote the idea of starting the day with a healthy breakfast as well as promoting home-grown regional produce. The theme for this year’s initiative is “Breakfast Benefits”.

HGCA, the Royal Highland Education Trust (RHET) and Tesco Scotland have gotten together to produce a competition  which encourages Scottish school children to think twice about the most important meal of the day and all the nutritional and physical benefits of a healthy breakfast.

Our competition challenges children to think about and develop a Scottish breakfast recipe for inclusion on a promotional A5 recipe card.

By taking part, schools will be doing their bit as a Health Promoting School and meet experiences and outcomes in a number of curricular areas such as:

Health & Wellbeing
Literacy & English
Social Subjects
Expressive Arts
