RHET Clyde covers North & South Lanarkshire and Glasgow councils, and is managed by a committee of representatives from the farming community and the education service.
We aim to provide a balanced, reliable and independent source of information about farming, food production and other aspects of the rural economy. The main services we offer are Farm Visits, Classroom Speakers, Projects and Curriculum-linked Resources. All RHET farm visits and classroom talks are tailored to suit each individual request.
All our services and resources are FREE to schools.
From 2009 to 2010 RHET Clyde facilitated:
185 farm visits...
542 classroom speaker talks...
...across Glasgow, North and South Lanarkshire.
With 26 risk-assessed farms in RHET Clyde and other trained speakers, schools in the area have a local resource available at any time of year.
A farm visit or classroom speaker can fit in with 'A Curriculum For Excellence', helping you work towards Eco-schools, Determined to Succeed, Hungry for Success, and Health Promoting Schools targets whilst providing a valuable and memorable learning experience for children involved.
Applications are coming in steadily for farm visits so if yours is not already booked, please visit the Farm Visit page of our website to download the booking form from our website or contact Kris clyde@rhet.org.
Alternatively, should you wish to organise a Classroom Speaker, please visit the Classroom Speaker page.
We also hold teacher training days where primary and secondary teachers found out how RHET Clyde can provide resources and services to compliment classroom topics.
Schools can order a range of classroom resources direct from us. We have a number of interactive materials covering subjects such as meat production, farming across the seasons, standard grade Geography and a newly-developed Higher Biology online resource.
On top of all this, RHET Clyde is involved with a number of regional and national projects and competitions.
NB: Limited funding is available to cover transport costs for Farm Visits.

Funded by the Scottish Government, P6 & P7 pupils are invited to participate in a day looking at life on the farm. Topics include looking at dairy, beef and cereal production. Places are free, allocated on a first-come basis, and include bus travel. Please contact Kris for more details (see below).
