December 5th sees the celebration of World Soil Day (#WorldSoilDay), and this year the focus of the campaign is "Keep soil alive, Protect soil biodiversity". To coincide with this and to bring the
RHET are working with Quality Meat Scotland (QMS), the Rowett (Aberdeen University) and Food and Drink Federation Scotland to provide teachers with learning opportunities linked to Food, STEM and sustainability.
There may be a point in the career of many researchers when they take a step away from being dispassionate observers and decide instead to get their sleeves rolled up and try to make a difference.
As we move towards a new normal, RHET are busy upskilling and developing new content for schools and teachers to engage with.
The Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland (RHASS) and OnFARM, Scotland’s rural podcast, have joined forces to produce a series of episodes celebrating the best of sector, including the work of RHASS and RHET, as well as highlighting the social and economic impact of the Royal Highland Show.
One of RHET’s key strengths is its network of brilliant coordinators and supportive volunteers, who engage with schools and farms up and down the country, helping us, reach as many young people as possible each year.
After serious consideration, the decision has been made for all RHET face to face activity to be postponed.
Brian and Janet Hill of Plan Farm in Bute will kindly be donating the proceeds from the auction of a vintage plough next week to the recently established RHET Argyll & Bute – an agricultural-based educational charity.
