Introducing Angela, her family and their farm

Hi Everyone! I’m Angela & I live in Fife on our family farm with my husband James & our 3 sons, Rory(15), Euan(12) & Blair(7). We keep cattle, sheep and grow crops. Spring is a REALLY busy time of year on the farm with lambing being one of the main jobs.

Many farms across the country will be lambing just now but they each have their own unique systems in place, this is down to many factors including farm size, location, labour and breed of sheep.

On our farm we have 150 breeding ewes (female sheep) which is just a small number compared to many other farms in Scotland who can sometimes have upwards of 1000 or more!! Our main flock is made up of North Country Cheviot and Texel ewes which we breed to a Border Leicester tup (male sheep).

Hopefully, over the next few weeks, you can follow us on our 2021 lambing journey to see, not only some of the new arrivals, but also some of the work that goes on throughout the year to look after our sheep.
