New Faces & New Roles

RHET Young Farmers Ambassadors

With our young ambassadors scheme now up and running in many CI areas we hear from Lothians Christine Smith.

She joins the other 10 ambassadors we have recruited across Scotland and is supporting the Lothians CI.  This ambassador scheme is helping to build RHET’s link with SAYFC and the younger generation of potential volunteers.

My name is Christina Smith, I’m 21 years old and I’m currently in my final year studying Accountancy and Finance at Heriot Watt University. I’m originally from a dairy farm near Campbeltown on the West coast which I’m very much still involved with and enjoy helping my parents with milking, feeding calves and driving silage during my uni holidays. I’m also an active member and past secretary of Edinburgh young farmers as well as a club member of Campbeltown YF. I’m looking forward to taking on this role as the Lothians YF Ambassador as I feel it is of upmost importance to educate and promote the agricultural industry to the next generation and help to explain to them where their food comes from.

RHET Introduces Network Coordinators Role

We also have new p/t network coordinator roles which aim to support communication and connectivity within the RHET network, from central staff to local CI’s. This role should enhance the RHET network as we move forward into 2022 and beyond.

Lesley Mason (Borders Project Coordinator) and Sheila Bannerman (Dumbarton, Renfrew and Lomond Project Coordinator) have taken on this role together, we wish them both the best of luck!
