Year of Beef 2021/2022

The year of beef is now in full swing and the content generated to date can be found here with more resources in the pipeline.

One of the Lothians volunteers Scott Brown, from Woodhead Farm in Midlothian, recently helped us out by being interviewed for a Year of Beef video for schools during farm visit week.

We asked Scott for some feedback on his experience helping RHET with the Year of Beef Campaign –

“It’s always a "golden opportunity" to showcase and educate School children about our amazing Agricultural Industry, and not just about where their food comes from but about how safe and sustainable food produced on Scottish Farms is.

As the eyes of the world would have been watching COP26 in 2021 it's a great chance to show that Scottish Farming practices are part of the solution and NOT the pollution!

Hopefully, some of the children who visit our farms or engage in virtual events are attracted into our industry at a later date as a career choice.

On reflection, I would urge anyone who is passionate about our Industry to put their shoulder to the wheel and help our fantastic hard working RHET Team, they really are achieving tremendous levels of engagement, which is so important at a time when Global Food Production is under the microscope of a younger generation who are making informed decisions about their future.”
