Comedy writing legend Phil Differ headlined the Royal Highland Education Trust (RHET) Perth & Kinross Comedy Night held in Blairgowrie Town Hall last month.

The sell-out show saw Differ joined by fellow comedians Graham Mackie, Jamie MacDonald and local lad Jim Smith. Graham compered the show and got the night off to a great start. The Santa look-a-like interacted with the audience and ensured they were well warmed up for their first act Jim Smith. Self-confessed teuchter Jim, whose account of rural life and tales of his days in Young Farmers raised the roof of the predominately rural audience.

Next on the bill was Glaswegian Jamie MacDonald whose entertaining and witty tales about life as a blind man in Scotland had the audience laughing from start to finish. Finally Phil took to the stage to a well warmed audience and delivered a great set including a hilarious anecdote about the technical challenges involved with bowel screening!

Ticket holders were treated to a selection of refreshments including soft drinks donated by Summerhouse Drinks, crisps and popcorn donated by Mackies of Tayside and ice cream donated by Stewart Tower Dairy, as well as 3 well stocked bars!

Alix Ritchie, RHET Project Co-ordinator for Perth & Kinross said “The Comedy Night was a great success raising over £4,000 to help get children from Perth & Kinross out onto farms to learn about where their food comes from. RHET Perth & Kinross relies entirely on fundraising and donations to allow it to continue to provide free on farm and in class education to 3-18 year olds across the region.”
