The Royal Highland Education Trust is a Scottish charity that aims to provide the opportunity for every child in Scotland to learn about food, farming and the countryside and to create a wider understanding of the environmental, economic and social realities of rural Scotland.
RHET Lothian seeks an enthusiastic and flexible individual with a passion for the countryside to support delivery of farm visits for school groups, mainly in the East Lothian area. The successful candidate will work from home on a self-employed basis, during term time only. You will work in partnership with the Lothian Coordinator, risk assessing and supervising school farm visits, liaising with schools and supporting RHET Lothian volunteers.
The contract is for up to 100 hours per academic year. Hours are seasonally variable due to school demand. (e.g. may vary between 0 -10 hours each week) Fees are paid at a rate of £10/hour with a mileage allowance of 45p/mile for eligible travel. The job will entail travelling mainly in the North Berwick, Haddington and Pencaitland areas, supporting our network of farmers. As such it would suit an applicant living in this geographical area.
Contract runs from February 2018 for 5 months in the first instance, with the possibility of extension to a 12 month yearly contract thereafter. There is also the possibility of increasing the number of hours if funding becomes available.
