December 5th sees the celebration of World Soil Day (#WorldSoilDay), and this year the focus of the campaign is "Keep soil alive, Protect soil biodiversity". To coincide with this and to bring the story of soils to life, the team at the rural education charity, Royal Highland Education Trust have, in collaboration with two fantastic illustrators, produced a children's story book.

The story illustrations are a collaboration between Diana Bechmann www.dianakristinbechmann.com and Alice Alderman alicealderman.com.

The book, aimed at 6 - 11 year old's, looks to inspire and educate young people about the importance of soil. The artwork throughout the book helps bring the soil microbes to life making this a story for the whole family to enjoy.

RHET Executive Officer Katrina Barclay added, Collaborating with 2 amazing artists has helped us bring the story about soil to life. We hope that the book will be enjoyed by people of all ages, but in particular young people. We would like to thank the artists involved for their support and creativity in getting us to this point and of course to those of you raising funds for RHET through buying the book. Soils are vitally important for so many reasons, including of course food production and by linking in with the key focus of world soil day we are delighted to launch this educational book.
