A Flavour of RHET

RHET have had some great events over the past couple of months.  Here is a flavour of what we have been up to across Scotland

The Food & Farming Days organised by RHET Fife were a big success! The 450 Primary 6 students got to attend over three days and participate in such a wide variety of educational sessions covering different aspects of food and farming. Having real industry volunteers from organisations like QMS, Kettle Produce, Cloverlea, Scotland the Bread, Agricar, BASC, West Fife Beekeepers and the infamous Ronnie Black of This Farming Life fame was very impactful for the students to get that hands-on learning.

Events like these that expose youth to where their food comes from and how it is produced are so valuable. Getting kids interested in agriculture and the food supply chain at a young age helps ensure a bright future for the industry. Well done to RHET Fife for organising and to over 50 volunteers who made these two days happen! I'm sure the students will remember what they learned for years to come. Thanks to The Den at Culross, Bowhouse and Lindores for hosting, and all the volunteers.

RHET Forth Valley blown away with incredible fundraising event
The RHASS Forth Valley presidential team broke all records for fundraising when they hosted a fabulous Dinner Dance at Dunblane Hydro on Saturday 17th February 2024.

The evening was a fun mix of delicious food, hilarious speakers, dancing  and a high end auction. And resulted in an unbelievable £120,000 raised. The funds have been divided up between the Aberlour Trust, RHET Forth Valley, Forth Valley agricultural shows  and RHET.

Receiving such a large amount gives the Forth Valley committee a valuable opportunity to enhance and develop the countryside initiative, but this also brings pressure and responsibility. RHET is in the process of developing a volunteer support programme and are looking for volunteers with expertise in project development, education, business and finance to consider taking RHET volunteering forward and or joining local committees to bring fresh ideas and offer support in our journey of “Taking the classroom to the countryside” To find out more and get in touch please complete the form HERE
